ABOUT SMOKESHOW
Fire, live—and properly labelled.
SmokeShow is an independent visual publication combining satellite fire detections, official incident reports, public wildfire camera networks, and practical smoke-safety research.
How the live dashboard works
The global map keeps NASA and DEA satellite heat, named agency incidents, Copernicus EFFIS mapped fire areas, NOAA smoke and fire weather, and public camera locations as separate signals. For supported U.S. incidents, selecting a fire also retrieves local wind, humidity, forecast conditions, and active warnings from the National Weather Service. A heat detection or recently mapped perimeter does not automatically mean a currently active wildfire, and every forecast is modelled rather than a measurement at the fireline.
How products are assessed
Our current reviews are desk research, not laboratory tests. We examine official product documentation, published safety credentials, installation requirements, connectivity, subscriptions, limitations, and current pricing. Every product page identifies its sources and last review date.
What we will not do
We do not issue evacuation orders, present the dashboard as an emergency-warning service, or treat an AI camera as a replacement for a certified alarm. We do not treat a purifier, HVAC filter, or respirator as a replacement for evacuation or official warnings. We do not sell rankings or hide material limitations below a purchase button.
Who this is for
People who want to understand what satellites and cameras are seeing, and who need practical indoor-air options when wildfire smoke is in the house.
