PRIVACY
Minimal data. Clear purpose.
SmokeShow does not currently require visitor accounts, comments, or newsletter signup.
Live maps and external imagery
The live dashboard requests map tiles and imagery from OpenStreetMap, NASA, and NOAA. Those providers receive the technical information ordinarily sent with a web request, such as your IP address and browser details, under their own policies. If you choose “find fires near me,” your browser asks for permission and uses the result to sort the current incidents; SmokeShow does not transmit or store that location.
Device watchlist
If you watch an incident, its public incident identifier is saved in your browser’s local storage so your watchlist remains available on that device. It is not attached to an account or sent to SmokeShow, and you can remove it by unwatching the incident or clearing your browser data.
Outbound product clicks
When you use a “check current price” link, SmokeShow records the product, merchant, and time of the click. This helps us understand which research is useful. We do not store your name, email address, IP address, or user-agent string in this click table.
External sites
Official-source, camera-network, and product links open third-party websites. Their privacy, cookies, checkout, and account practices are governed by their own policies.
Owner authentication
The private owner dashboard uses the hosting platform’s authentication system and is restricted to the configured owner account.
Future services
This policy will be updated before adding advertising pixels, newsletters, personalized recommendations, or additional analytics providers.
