THE SHORT VERSION
Coway publishes tobacco-smoke CADR 233, dust 246, pollen 240, and 361 ft² at 4.8 air changes per hour. AHAM’s wildfire rule of thumb is smoke CADR roughly equal to room square footage, so treat this as about 233 ft²—a bedroom—not the 1,748 ft² marketing figure. Turn the ionizer off. Do not use Eco during a smoke event because the fan can stop after 30 minutes of “clean” readings.
Best for: One closed bedroom or similar room while outdoor air is smoky.
- Published CADR
- 233 smoke · 246 dust · 240 pollen
- Room target
- About 233 ft² for wildfire smoke; manufacturer also publishes 361 ft² at 4.8 ACH.
- Filter cadence
- Carbon: 6 months. HEPA: 12 months. Expect earlier replacement during heavy smoke and keep a spare genuine set.
- Noise and power
- Manufacturer publishes 24–53 dB(A) and 77 W maximum.
WHAT WE LIKE
- Published tobacco-smoke CADR of 233
- HEPA plus carbon filtration
- Ionizer has an off switch
- Genuine replacement filters remain available
- Bedroom-scale footprint
READ THIS BEFORE BUYING
- CADR is a lab rating, not a measure of indoor AQI during a plume
- It does not make outdoor air safe; close windows and doors and use HVAC recirculation
- Run it high and continuously in a closed room; skip Eco during smoke
- Turn the ionizer off; EPA does not recommend electronic air cleaners for smoke
- The thin carbon pad is not a wildfire-gas filter
- Filters load faster in smoke, so keep a spare set
