THE SHORT VERSION
Filtrete MPR 1900 is MERV 13 in a 1-inch filter. The 16×25×1 size is common, but 20×25×1 is too—match the size printed on the old filter. 3M says to replace it at least every 90 days; during a plume, inspect it as it darkens and expect a shorter life. 3M claims the highest airflow among residential 1-inch MERV 13 filters using California Energy Commission data current to January 29, 2025. Run the HVAC fan continuously during smoke.
Best for: US homes whose filter slot is 16×25×1 and whose HVAC system already tolerates MERV 13.
